What is medicinal cannabis?

Medicinal cannabis in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico became the second Caribbean jurisdiction to legalize medicinal cannabis on
May 3rd, 2015. The Puerto Rico Health Department has recognized the therapeutic value of
medicinal cannabis and authorized the use of this plant and its derivatives for health reasons.
Personally cultivating cannabis remains illegal. Under the Health Department’s guidelines,
medicinal cannabis is approved for the following conditions:

 Alzheimer’s disease
 Glaucoma
 HIV/Aids
 Migraines
 Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
 Parkinson’s Disease

And other illnesses that are not responsive to traditional medicine and approved by a qualifying physician.
